Climbing Nuts

Do you have any suggestions to help my Jack Russell Terrier?
My Jack Russell Terrier is Terrified of loud construction trucks, they just started doing construction on the road next to my house, it will be going on for 100 days. He shakes constantly and runs around the house knocking things over nonstop! He is 11 years old and seems in good health, but he is driving me nuts and wearing himself out! I am afraid for his health. I dont have any where I can take him. Any good suggestions would be so appreciated. He is climbing on me now, and will be all day. I dont want to just leave him alone. I am not working right now so I dont have to leave him much, but I dont seem to be of much comfort to him. Can you help? He is like a child to me. I love him.
Good answers so far. Can I give him benadryl? what about a small size carrier? Do you think that would help? Thanks everyone.
I agree start with a Benadryl capsule and if that doesn’t mellow the poor guy out, you should ask your Vet for a mild sedative. Especially at his age and Jack Russell’s are a bit hyper anyway. My dog freaks completely out at thunder and sometimes we have to sedate her. She’s a little hyper too, she’s a Hybrid and some noises just make her nuts! Good Luck
