How do you treat a strained groin?

I’ve been having pain in my groin area into my upper thigh the past few days, following an unusually vigorous session on the stair climbing machine. My fault I did not stretch out beforehand . Anyway the pain’s not too bad, and there’s no unusual redness or swelling at all (I didn’t even notice anything was wrong until the next day). The area looks normal – there’s a mild pain in the groin & thighs that seems to come and go randomly but I’ve even put in one more cardio session since this started and haven’t had any pain doing so. As long as I’m able to do normal activities without pain, should I stop running until this is resolved? How long could that take?

You should at least take it easy-don’t over do until it gets better, and take an anti-inflammatory pill like motrin. You can get it without prescription. It’s inexpensive at Costco if you buy generic.
